Mama’s Call Is Here — A Lifeline for Every Mother In Nigeria.

When a Mother’s Cry Was Left Unheard
In April 2025, the tragic story of Kemi, a young mother whose cries for help went unanswered went viral.
Tragically, both she and her baby lost their lives. Her husband and family were left to navigate grief, questions, and the reality of preventable loss.
Her story is not unique. Every day, Nigerian families lose mothers and babies due to lack of timely care and systemic gaps in maternal health.

The Crisis Behind the Headlines
- According to UNICEF, an estimated 82,000 Nigerian women die every year from pregnancy-related complications. That’s roughly 225 women a day. Pulse Nigeria+1
- Recent data from 2023 puts the number at around 75,000 maternal deaths — a figure that represents nearly 29% of global maternal deaths. The Nation Newspaper+2Intelpoint+2
- According to experts at Nigerian Institute of Medical Research (NIMR), Nigeria’s maternal mortality ratio remains among the highest globally — with many deaths likely under‑reported because of weak data, lack of investigations, and gaps in the health system. Premium Times Nigeria+1
These are not just numbers.
Each figure is a mother gone too soon.
A father left without his partner.
A newborn robbed of their first embrace.
Families shattered.
Communities mourning.
Lives lost.
Potential extinguished.
Why Mama’s Call — Because We Refuse to Let Another Mother Be Left Alone
When we saw Kemi’s story, when we heard of her family’s anguish, we made a decision: this cannot continue.
We, the founders and team of Mama’s Call, knew we had to act.
Mama’s Call is more than a hotline. It is a lifeline.
A bridge between pain and help. Between despair and hope. Between fear and safety.
When you call Mama’s Call, Mama’s Call ensures you and your baby are never alone:
- Connection to the nearest available verified hospitals and emergency responders ready to receive and treat you, even in emergencies, so you are never left stranded like Kemi.
- Financial support coordination: we work with hospitals and patients’ budgets to ensure care is never rejected due to cost.
- Budget-friendly support: our nurses guide you through every step of your pregnancy and early motherhood completely free of charge.
- Calm, medically-informed guidance and emotional support for expectant mothers, new mothers, and their families , because every second counts.
- Compassion, dignity, and respect in every interaction , because your life, and that of your baby, truly matters.
We envision a Nigeria where no mother dies because help arrived too late, where no family is left grappling with grief alone, where every pregnancy carries the promise of safety.
